Today our LT came up with the idea of transcripting lessons to measure engagement.
We also came up with a tentative timeline for our action plan. The LT has being divided into two taskforce: 1 group to come up with the Stem of the pre/post survey for teachers and students. 1 group to come up with the measures to assess the engagement level AND the SEL enhancement.
Today, we recreated our timeline again after it was erased from the whiteboard in the conference room. A copy of the timeline now recide in the PLC room. Huuraay!!
We have identified 3 teachers for our study. They are Shahid, Joanne & Qiuyan. We will approach them for help.
We have compiled some relevant articles for us to read and we will use the next 2 weeks to identify clearly what student engagement really entails and what it mean to us.

28/7/2010 - Discuss about the tagged data. Problem: We are not sure whether based on the questions tagged, study can be made on students engagement. Actions: Huda will find literature review on relationship of types of questions with student engagement. All other team members will start to transcribe Shahid's lessons (Pre and post intervention lessons). We will look at time of teacher talk, student talk and non verbal. We will also study the student's survey.
T4W1 - All discuss to code the transcripts. Ryan and Huda will start the analysis from then onwards. T4W2 - Individual members start working on their report. We will still meet together on Wed morning to clarify any doubts. T4W3 - Continue working T4W4 - Continue working T4W5 - Submit full report & appendices to Ryan for compilation.
Our team decided that our AR will be on "Does Relational Teaching Enhances Learning Outcomes"

We also discussed about the different ways of measuring engagement of students and we wanted to measure the SEL outcomes.
